Scope

Scope of the Journal

The journal welcomes work on the traditional themes of peace studies, such as war and peace, conflict resolution, and security, as well as research addressing and reflecting on the new challenges to peace that arise in a rapidly changing global environment. It is also interested in research on peace issues at the local level, including peacebuilding within communities and the spread and practice of a culture of peace. Research exploring new peace agendas such as sustainable development, human rights, migration and refugees, and social inequality likewise falls within the scope the journal seeks to cover.

  • Traditional themes of peace research, including war and peace, conflict resolution, security, and international order
  • New peace agendas, including shifts in the international situation, emerging security issues, the climate crisis, and technological development
  • Global social problems, including human rights, migration and refugees, inequality, and sustainable development
  • Research on peace in communities and everyday life, and on a culture of peace and its practice
  • Interdisciplinary research across fields such as politics, society, history, culture and the arts
  • Other creative and open-ended research that broadens the horizons of peace studies
