Abstract
This article introduces the core concept of ecological peace and discusses its implications for the Korean Peninsula. Ecological peace is a critical concept that is newly emerging in peace studies. In Korea, interest in ecological peace is increasing in relation to the ecological use of the DMZ, but the concept is not well developed yet. The concept of ecological peace began with deepening the awareness of the problem of peace studies through the awareness of the ecological problem in peace studies. This article consists of biosecurity, ecological justice, and peace ecology as components of ecological peace, and introduces each concept and case based on these. Biosecurity and ecological justice have a negative aspect of peace, and ecological peace can be seen as having implications for positive peace that actively builds peace away from violence and destruction. In addition, while previous discussions were based on the viewpoint of viewing the environment as a resource used by humans, this article discussed the possibility of more than human peace ecology by considering various non-human organisms.
