Peace tourism can be defined as a phenomenon in which tourism activities should be linked to the goal of peace for visitors. It encourages visitors to think about the aspects and causes of violence and consider a peace perspective. Meanwhile, peace tourism on the Korean Peninsula was mainly conducted in the DMZ area. When the CO VID-19 epidemic made it difficult to visit the DMZ area, the demand for alternative peace tours increased. This article proposes two main tasks to revitalize peace tourism in South Korea. First, the violence on the Korean Peninsula has three dimensions: Imperialism, Korean War, and violence related to the division. Therefore, it is necessary to develop peace tourism at the local level by including all places related to this violence. Second, peace tourism in the DMZ area needs to be improved through concepts that include the various places near the DMZ and focus on the multidimensionality of violence on the Korean Peninsula.
